Katy Perry Reveals The New Cover Art For Single 'Roar'

  • 09 August 2013

Katy Perry has revealed the cover art to her long-awaited new single, 'Roar,' just days before the track gets it's official release. The singer shared the artwork with her fans via iTunes, where the singer has also made the track available to pre-order ahead of it's scheduled 12 August release date, after sharing a link to the pre-order through her Twitter page last night (8 August).

Perry has made 'Roar' available to pre-order

"!! ATTENTION UK !! EXCLUSIVELY for u guys, be the 1ST ones to see the #ROAR artwork NOW by pre-ordering single HERE: http://po.st/RoarUKiTunes," the singer wrote on her Twitter page on Thursday. The singer also debuted the eighties inspired artwork to the track, a possible indication of the musical direction her new release is taking. With her back to the camera and face turned slightly to show-off her natural beauty, the cover shows Katy in her newly re-invented look, with no candy-coloured bra or blue wig in sight. After all, she burned/buried these in her 'Roar' videos.

Never one to shy away from showing off some skin, Katy has gone completely covered for the latest artwork, wearing a dark blue sports jacket featuring a large roaring tiger emblazoned on the back, with the singer peering over her shoulder towards the camera. With a tiger-print border surrounding the image and the word 'Roar' written vertically down the right-hand side of the cover in large gold letters, could the new cover art be indicating the future of Perry's image; a skin-free one at that.

As her pre-album videos have demonstrated, the singer is determined to shake off her former image as the bubble-gum teen pop Queen, and her decision to put on rather than take off her clothes might be a further indication of her 'grown up' new identity. 'Roar' will be release as the first single from her upcoming third album, Prism, which is slated for a 22 October release date.
