Box Office Predictions: The Wolverine Looks Like A Clear Winner In Quiet Weekend
After a relatively quiet week in terms of new cinematic releases, Hugh Jackman's latest turn as James 'Logan' Howlett, aka Wolverine, is expected to shoot straight to the top of the box office chart by quite some distance. The Wolverine has few competitors capable of really challenging it for the top spot, that is unless one of last week's top five can provide a challenge, which looks increasingly unlikely to happen.

The Wolverine actually looks as though it could be the only new addition to the box office chart capable of making a real impact, in a week when very few new releases look as though they have the potential to be box office successes. Because of this, The Wolverine could make anywhere between $50-80 million, with the potential to go on and make even more providing enough people pass through cinema turnstiles before Sunday (July 28) is over. The film has received some warm reviews and in terms of audience anticipation, it ranks up there with the likes of Pacific Rim and World War Z - so a decent profit turn over could be on the cards.

Across the rest of the board, expect to see last week's debutants The Conjuring and Turbo take up the second and third spots, although we shouldn't discount Despicable Me 2 from bringing in an eight figure sum despite being in cinemas for close to a month. Last week, The Conjuring spooked it's way to the top of the box office in what was a quite weekend, and providing moviegoers are up for another weekend of frights, this really stands as the only challenge to The Wolverine.

Other than this, the Michael B. Jordan starring Fruitvale Station has an outsiders chance of reaching the top five, but with only a limited release it will be lucky to break more than six figures over the weekend. Expect the rest of the box office chart to be made up of Red 2, Grown Ups 2, Pacific Rim and a collection of other movies released earlier this month.
