Harrison Ford Is Voice Of Reason At Ender's Game Press Conference, Comic-Con

Harrison Ford attempted to get a handle on the Ender's Game/Orson Scott Card controversy at the Ender's Game press conference at Comic-Con, San Diego this week. Card - the author of the book on which the upcoming sci-fi movie is based - has made no secret of his anti-gay views, leading many to suggest a boycott of the film.

However, Ford - the star of the new movie - played down the link between Card and the new movie. "I think none of Mr. Card's concerns regarding the issue of gay marriage are part of the thematics of this film," he said on Thursday, according to The Verge, "He has written something that is of value to us all to consider our moral responsibilities."

It was thought Card may participate in the promotion for Ender's Game in a bid to explain his position, though he was nowhere to be seen at Comic-Con. He had previously released a statement calling his gay marriage issue "moot."

"I think his views outside of those that we deal with in this film are not an issue for me to deal with, so I have really no opinion on that issue," Harrison Ford said, fairly sensibly, "I am aware of his statements admitting that the question of gay marriage is a battle that he lost, and he admits that he lost it."

The Hollywood actor championed the Supreme Court's recent ruling that same-sex couples were entitled to federal benefits, saying it was a factory for all people. "I think we all know that we've all won, that humanity has won," he said. "And I think that's the end of the story."

Ender's Game - set for release on November 1, 2013 - is set 70 years after a horrific alien war, following an unusually gifted child sent to an advanced military school in space to prepare for future invasions.
