Bollywood Star Jiah Khan Dead Aged 25

Shocking news has come out of the Bollywood film industry, with it being revealed that the actress Jiah Khan has been found dead. She was just 25 years-old.

"Nafisa Khan, who is known as Jiah Khan, was found hanging by her mother at around 22:45 India time [17:15GMT] ) at her residence on the first floor of Sagar Sangeet [apartment]," deputy commissioner of police Chhering Dorje said in a statement, reported by the BBC. He added: "Her body has been taken to the hospital where a post-mortem will be conducted to find the cause of her death.” Khan made her debut in Bollywood in 2007 and has gone on to become a key star in the Indian film industry. She was born in New York and grew up in London before moving to Mumbai to embark on a successful career in Bollywood.

Tributes have been pouring in for the star, with filmmaker Ram Gopal writing "Never ever seen a debutant actress with more spunk and more spirit than Jiah when I was directing her in Nishabd," on Twitter. Farah Khan also commented "Can't register that Jiah is no more... Worked with her in Housefull and she was so beautiful and such a good soul. Too young to go Jiah,” while fellow actress Dia Mirza wrote "RIP Nafisa (Jiah) Khan. You were too young and beautiful…"
