Veteran crooner Barry Manilow is helping to bring music lessons back to schools in Georgia by collecting instruments from fans to donate to local education facilities.

The Copacabana hitmaker has asked devotees to take part in a charity drive in the city of Duluth in Gwinnett County, ahead of his show there later this month (Apr13), and he is delighted at the guitars, keyboards and other items that have already poured in from the community.

He posted a photo of the various musical instruments already collected on Facebook.com on Monday (01Apr13), alongside the caption, "Georgia fans have come forward to support the Duluth County School District's music program and the Manilow Music Project by donating instruments to the box office in preparation for Barry's concert at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga on April 27!"

Manilow is also spearheading a similar instrument drive in Richmond, Virginia, where he will perform on 25 April (13), and he helped to kick-start the collection by donating a Yamaha piano to Richmond Public Schools officials via his non-profit organisation last month (Mar13).
