ITunes Stream David Bowie's 'The Next Day' Ahead Of Release; What Do People Think?

The critics have been giving their opinions on it for the past week or two, but now the public have finally had a chance to hear David Bowie’s comeback album 'The Next Day' for the first time, after iTunes streamed the whole hush-hush project in full yesterday (February 28, 2013).

Bowie’s whole campaign for this first album in a decade has been built around the internet and the element of surprise. Aside from his close-knit team of band members and production staff, no one had an inkling that we’d be getting new music from the 66 year-old when he dropped the single ‘Where Are We Now?’ out of the blue last month. Another video followed this week ‘The Stars (Are Out Tonight)’, but the real shock has been that iTunes last night streamed The Next Day two weeks ahead of its official release. So what’s the reaction from the general public been? Well if Twitter’s anything to go by it seems overwhelmingly positive. “Totally relieved to find the new Bowie album is great, you can stream it here legit,” wrote user @kyleplatts. @madame1979ray meanwhile commented. “David Bowie, or God as he is also known, has made a f*cking brilliant record.”

As stated, critically it’s taken a huge level acclaim too. The Independent called it “Maybe the greatest comeback ever”, while the BBC Wrote “A triumphant, almost defiant, return. Innovative, dark, bold and creative, it’s an album only David Bowie could make.” With an 8.5 average rating from aggregating site Anydecentmusic.com it looks like the Thin White Duke is well and truly back.
