Hence Cooper's appearance, he was there to pick up a gong for best actor for his role in the aforementioned Silver Linings Playbook. It won't be the biggest award of his career - or perhaps even this month - but they all count as he seeks to build up momentum ahead of the big ones, the Oscars, which take place on February 24.

With most of the other big names from Hollywood opting now to show, it was a night where the young stars could take centre stage on the red carpet. No more keen to do that were Daisy Lowe and Juno Temple. Fashion model Daisy Lowe was brash and breezy with a fifties floral dress, whilst Temple was far more conservative, though still elegant, with her pared down look.

Other Brits on show were sisters Peaches and Pixie Geldof. The former turned up with her husband Thomas Cohen of the now split-up group S.C.U.M; of the siblings though it was tough to choose between who won the best outfit of the evening, so like the shameless coves that we are, we're going to let you decide for yourselves. What do you think?

Of the men, meanwhile, there was only one other who could compete with Bradley Cooper's star power: The Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood, still looking sharp aged 65 - though we have to wonder whether he took tips from his younger Hollywood visitor.
