Global Kids Fashion Week kicks off in London on March 19.

The very first two-day showcase of junior fashion - organised by children's retailer alexandalexa.com - will feature two catwalk shows including a press-only event for the autumn/winter 2013-14 trends from labels like Paul Smith Junior and Little Marc Jacobs, and a show for the public featuring spring/summer 2013 looks from AlexandAlexa's portfolio of brands.

Alex Theophanous, founder and CEO of alexandalexa.com, said in a statement: ''Kids' fashion is playful, fun and innovative - we all believe it deserves its own dedicated platform.

''This is why we are so proud to be supporting the very first Global Kids' Fashion Week. With this event, we aim to put children's fashion on the map worldwide.''

The event will showcase lesser-known names like Rachel Riley and Munster Kid alongside established brands like Junior Gaultier and Tommy Hilfiger.

Fun activities for children and their parents, in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum of Childhood, will be available to help celebrate the evolution of childrenswear over the last five years.
