Amber Tamblyn Won Django Unchained Cameo With Drinking Contest
Actress Amber Tamblyn won a cameo in her pal Quentin Tarantino's new movie Django Unchained by beating the director in a drinking contest.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star makes a short appearance in Tarantino's Oscar-nominated Spaghetti Western as The Daughter of a Son of a Gunfighter - a reference to her actor father Russ' 1965 film Son of a Gunfighter - and the actress admits she went to great lengths to win the part.
She tells New York Magazine, "Quentin's a good friend of mine. And he lost a drinking bet, and the drinking bet was, if I could out-drink him in whiskey, I could play a cameo... I'm Scottish."
And the 29 year old even campaigned to get her father a role too.
She explains, "After the fact, I said, '_I_t would be super cool (to have my father and me play Son of a Gunfighter and Daughter of a Son of a Gunfighter).' And Quentin was like, 'Sold. Done.' So it's sort of like this totally weird thing to happen and a total inside joke."
Meanwhile, the beauty admits it was a wonderful experience to share with her dad.
She adds, "_I_t's such a cool moment for me to see my name in an old Western style next to my dad's. Even though I didn't really have much of a role, that to me is like a career lifetime moment. Some day, when my dad is gone, I'll look at that and go, 'We were next to each other.'"
