Gray's Anatomy Star Patrick Dempsey Buys Out Seattle Coffee Chain

You may have wondered if TV heartthrob Patrick Dempsey was just a pretty face? Whether, in real life, he would actually look into your eyes, hand you a cup of steaming coffee and ask you how your day went?

Ok, you probably weren’t wondering that, but the coffee part is sort of true. Apparently Gray’s Anatomy’s McDreamy (horrible nickname, work on that, writing staff) has bought out Tully’s – a struggling coffee chain from his native Seattle. Dempsey broke the news on Twitter earlier this week, with the following status update: “We met the green monster, looked her in the eye and… SHE BLINKED! We got it! Thank you Seattle!” The “green monster” he is referring to is coffee shop giant Starbucks, whom Dempsey’s own company Global Baristas Llc. beat out in the fight for Tully’s.

So, what’s in store for the actor and the coffee chain now? Well, firstly, Dempsey will probably have to deal with the legal dispute that Starbucks reps promised. If he comes out on top, an complete revamping of Tully’s is coming – the name and company ethic will remain, but almost everything else will be changed. “Tully’s is a great company with committed employees and with its base in Seattle, one of the world’s greatest cities, I’m confident we will be able to successfully build the brand and help grow the economy,” Dempsey said in a statement.

Still, at least they’re not converting into Starbucks.
