Gripped By The Holiday Spirit, Rihanna Donates $1.75 Million To Barbados Hospital
Rihanna has been gripped by the charitable holiday spirit apparently, forking out a massive donation to a local hospital.
Recently, the singer donated a whopping $1.75 million to a hospital in her native Barbados, in memory of her late grandmother, Clara “Dolly” Braithwaite. As thanks for the generous donation, the radiology wing of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgewater will be renamed The Clara Braithwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.
Rihanna visited the hospital yesterday (December 23rd) along with her mother, Monica Fenti and Dolly’s husband, Lionel. During her visit, she told E!News:” "This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program ... I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives or at least extend them.”
The donation will help fund the purchase of life-saving equipment, which will be used to treat and possibly cure a lot of patients of the Queen Elisabeth Hospital. This is certainly a wonderful way to honor the memory of her gran, who passed away in July. At the time, the singer tweeted: “Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you.”
