Pictures: Stars Come Out As Jude Law Honoured Whilst Andrea Riseborough's Outfit Stands Out At The British Independent Film Awards
The stars came out in style for the annual British Independent Film Awards at the Old Billingsgate and there were fewer bigger stars in attendance than Jude Law - who appears in Les Miserables at the moment - and Michael Gambon. Both of them were honoured at the event, with Law taking the Variety Award in recognition of his work publicising British cinema throughout his career; he joins an illustrious list of past winners including Sir Michael Caine, Dame Helen Mirren and Sir Kenneth Branagh, according to ITN. Gambon meanwhile took the Richard Harris Award in recognition of his career's longevity.
Other winners on the night included Andrea Riseborough, who took best actress for her performance in political thriller Shadow Dancer. Best actor meanwhile was Toby Jones; it was one of four awards for Peter Strickland's Berberian Sound Studio, which also took best director, best achievement in production and best technical achievement. The winner of the big award of the night, best film, was given to the Tim Roth-starring family drama Broken.
A host of recognisable faces turned up for the event - and some not so recognisable ones - including James Nesbitt, John Hurt, Idris Elba and Zawe Ashton.
