Pictures: Rihanna Caps Busy Day In London With Performance At The Forum
She's been aggravating all and sundry on the 777 flight with her non-appearances, but Rihanna did step out in public to wow fans by playing a show at intimate Forum venue in London.
Rihanna is currently whisking some 150 journalists as well as a handful of fans around the world on a flight dubbed 777, as she stops off to play seven intimate shows in seven different cities around the world. However, there were reports yesterday of a growing mutiny on the plane following a distinct lack of presence from the singer herself, the protests reaching such a point that an Australian journalist stripped and ran through the plane naked.
However, that was all immaterial to the packed out London crowd, as RiRi entranced them with a flashy white outfit and a typically assured performance that still glittered despite its stripped down nature.
The Daily Telegraph pointed out that Rihanna relied purely on her star power to impress the fans, with three backing vocalists and a pre-recorded backing track doing most of the work. It mattered not, though. The performer's presence was enough to send people into rapture. The show was the sixth of Rihanna's seven dates, having played Berlin the previous evening, and she was quick to remind everyone that her seventh album Unapologetic was currently the third biggest selling in the UK and top of the iTunes charts.
It had been a busy old day for Rihanna, as she arrived at Westfield Stratford in London earlier in the evening to turn on the Christmas lights there. There were more people in attendance at that event than could fit in The Forum later at night, with 20,000 giving the American a storming welcome. The star's appareance in the UK capital brought out the celebs too, with pop royalty Kylie Minogue among the guests watching on in the forum, as well as X Factor alumni Alexandra Burke and Little Mix.
