Viewers Departing Hulu

With its network owners increasing the delay between the day a show airs live and the day it is available online, video websites Hulu and Hulu Plus have shown a significant drop in online viewers, according to comScore's survey of online video sites. Home Media magazine observed that Hulu did not even made it onto comScore's list of the top-ten video sites. That list continued to be dominated by what comScore refers to as Google Sites, although YouTube accounts for 99 percent of that designation. The site drew 150.27 million unique viewers in September. Yahoo! was a distant No. 2 with 57.39 million, followed by AOL with 53.81 million. Not included in the listing were BitTorrent sites, although reports have indicated that since Hulu increased the wait time for network shows to become available, some of its subscribers have departed to join the pirates.
