Is James Bond A Big Crybaby? It Appears So

Daniel Craig, who plays James Bond in the franchise’s latest entry, Skyfall, has admitted that Adele’s Bond theme was so powerful it made him cry, Metro reports.

“I cried. From the opening bars, I knew immediately, then the voice kicked in and it was exactly what I’d wanted from the beginning,” admitted Craig, 44. And we were only joking: Bond isn’t a crybaby, it’s actually in line with the new Bond; darker, more emotionally attuned and prone to human tendencies like crying, and seeking revenge. Adele – a British powerhouse – was always going to be the voice of Skyfall, admitted producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson, flattening rumours that Muse were ever in the running, even if their latest album is full of would-be Bond hits. “No, Adele was always our first choice,” explained Broccoli when Muse talk surfaced. Wilson went on to say that the late Amy Winehouse could well have been in line too, had things have turned out differently. Speaking at the Skyfall premiere at London's Royal Albert Hall last night, he said: “She would have been great. Wonderful.”

The success of Skyfall is leading critics and fans alike to wonder whether this Bond will be the one to make it big at The Oscars come 2013. The franchise hasn’t had much luck at the awards, but with this film’s label as the ‘best Bond ever’, that might change.
