Piling On The Pounds, The Great British Bake Off Finalists Gain Over 4st.
If you were spending all day, every day baking cakes, bread, pastries and all varieties of custards, creams and meringues, is there any realm of the universe in which you think you may be able to avoid sampling each and every single creation? No, nor us. It's no wonder, therefore, that the final three contestants of the triumph that is The Great British Bake Off put on a combined total weight of 4 stone!
Winner of the competition, John Whaite, told BBC breakfast that he put on a stone and a half, while James Morton, scotch heart-throb, admitted to piling on two stone in the Mirror. Ever restrained Brendan remained well disciplined in comparison to the two twenty-somethings and gained only 10lbs. Well done Brendan.
There's no prize money for the competition, so they'll all have fork out of their own pockets for the gym membership they'll no doubt need. Although, Whaite has just landed a job in banking, having graduated with a First in Law from Manchester University, which we all know is bound to be the most stress-inducing job around these days, the perfect conditions for weight loss. In the Daily Mail he's quoted saying "I bake every day. I get up at about 6am and bake bread or scones and at night I'll bake a cake. I make lots of steam puddings. I've been baking since I was five. It was a family thing." Perhaps neither the gym, nor the job will help John's weight loss. Plus, he still says he wants to work full time with food, and considers going to France to train in the future. We wish John and all the contestants all the best of luck, both which watching their weight and baking.
