‘Nowhere But Up’ – Justin Bieber’s Mother Publishes Harrowing Memoirs

Justin Bieber’s mother has just released her own autobiography. The book, entitled Nowhere But Up – The Story Of Justin Bieber’s Mom, explains in honest details the struggles that Pattie Mallette faced as a child and documents the way in which she turned her life around. And Justin Bieber himself wrote a touching foreword to the book, which reads “My mom is the strongest woman I've ever met. I've always known it, but this book has helped to remind me just how strong she is.”

“I always wanted to write a book about my story,” Pattie told USA Today and added “I wanted to be as vulnerable as I could, so that young girls who have been through similar things could relate. I pretty much bared my soul. It definitely furthered my healing process." Mallette suffered abuse as a child, at the hands of adults that she should have been able to trust. She gave birth to Bieber at age 18 and was a single mother; the book also tells the tale of her troublesome relationship with Bieber’s father, as well as the “spiritual awakening” that she had when she visited a counselor, after attempting suicide. Pattie explains that her faith has played a huge part in her ‘healing’ and said “I'm really grateful to God and to all the people who have surrounded me and loved me.”

Now that Justin himself is 18, Pattie recognizes that she can’t keep tabs on him as much as she used to but adds that she still travels with him when she can. Although she says she was wary of allowing him to pursue a career in the music business, she says “I've done my best to protect him and surround him with good people." Justin’s been showing his support on the Justin Bieber Twitter page, too, tweeting “check out my mom ‪@pattiemallette and ‪@carlyraejepsen both on ‪@theellenshow tomorrow.”
