Sir Tom Jones Landed Record Deal Through Dj Pal
Sir Tom Jones sought career guidance from legendary British Dj Sir Jimmy Savile before he was signed by a record company.
The veteran radio and TV host, who passed away last year (11), offered up his music industry expertise and gave Jones tips on how to get noticed by music bosses.
The Delilah singer tells Britain's The Sun, "I met Jimmy Savile and he gave me some great advice about making a demo. He said don't make a tape - they won't even listen to it. So my group and myself went and cut an acetate disc. Jimmy took it into Decca Records. They heard it, liked it, I did an audition and that was it."
