Usher To Debut Virtual Dancers At London Gig

  • 01 June 2012

Usher is set to stage a first in London on 11 June (12) when he performs at the Hammersmith Apollo with a troupe of virtual dancers.
The Yeah! hitmaker will be following in Dr. Dre's Coachella festival footsteps and including holograms in his act.
The digital dancers will appear in the form of avatars created by fans watching the webcast of the gig at home.
The idea is the brainchild of top concert director Hamish Hamilton, who came up with the concept for Madonna's 2012 Super Bowl half-time show in February (12) and helped to create U2's claw stage set for their record-shattering 360 tour.
The digital dancers will appear during Usher's performance of new track Scream.
Usher admits aspects of his current tour were inspired by what he saw at this year's (12) Coachella festival, during which Dr. Dre beamed a hologram of the late Tupac Shakur onstage for an eerie two-song performance.
