Fury Over New York Post's 'Racist' Jay-jay Z Column

The New York Post's sports columnist Phil Mushnick may find himself getting some unwarranted attention after he wrote an offensive column article relating to Jay Z 's re-branding of the Brooklyn Nets' basketball team. According to Time magazine, Jay Z is a minority owner of the basketball team and he "pushed for the new black and white color scheme."
In his column, published online today (May 4, 2012) Mushnick questions the Nets' decision to 'allow' Jay Z to "call their marketing shots." In his diatribe, which has been condemned by Spinner.com as racist, he continues "what a shock that he chose black and white as the new team colors to stress, as the Nets explained, their new "urban" home - why not have him apply the full Jay Z treatment? Why the Brooklyn Nets when they can be the New York N------s? The cheerleaders could be the Brooklyn B----hes or Hoes. Team logo? A 9 mm with hollow-tip shell casings strewn beneath. Wanna be Jay Z hip? Then go all the way!"
Writing for Spinner, Dan Reilly lashed out at the column, saying "I don't need to explain how utterly ignorant this is, right? Mushnick has worked at the paper since 1973, and has covered sports media since 1982, mainly with his column, "Equal Time." I've read it on and off for years. and I can't remember Mushnick writing anything this revolting. How he thought this was OK, and how an editor let it go to print, is beyond me." The response to the article on Twitter, has, largely, been one of horror, with one user, awfulannouncing, saying that "Phil Mushnick wrote some of the most absurd words you will ever see in print today."
