Lynch's Chained May Go Out Branded Nc-17
Since the MPAA ratings board routinely bestows an R rating on movies with the most sadistic non-sexual violence, industry watchers on Tuesday were speculating about the content of Jennifer Lynch's new movie Chained , whose NC-17 rating was upheld by the MPAA's Classification and Rating Administration. It marks the second time that a Lynch film has been tagged with the rating that limits its ability to advertise (some newspapers refused to carry ads for NC-17-rated movies) and to be distributed to theaters (some theater chains refuse to screen such films). Anchor Bay, which is distributing Chained , has not yet indicated whether it will remove or drastically edit the offending scenes. However, judging from the trailer, the movie appears to feature a series of grisly murders committed by a taxi driver who takes the son of one of his victims into his home as a veritable slave and accomplice.
