Alexa Chung Twitter Photo Sparks Anorexia Accusations
Alexa Chung has deleted a photo of herself from Twitter, after hordes of her followers expressed concern that she looked too thin. The photo showed the TV presenter and model and her mother, posing together. Alexa, wearing a blue denim dress and shades, with flat blue shoes, looks particularly gaunt in the image, which sparked concern amongst her fans and followers.
Chung's response was to delete the picture, The Telegraph reports, with a message that read "Ok everyone thanks for the teen angst discussions. People are different sizes. I'm not trying to be thinspo for anyone." The phrase 'thinspo' refers to the term 'thinspiration,' used to describe "imagery and ideals around extreme ideals of thinness which are strongly used on pro anorexia-websites." When she began to be criticised for her appearance in the picture, she said "I'm naturally thin - I get thinner when I'm stressed."Lady GaGa recently posted a message on Twitter detailing her diet and exercise regime, ahead of her tour and accompanied it with the hashtag "PopSingersDontEat," sparking worries about her health. Equally, Miley Cyrus recently had to explain to her followers that her weight loss was a result of switching to a gluten free diet and not from an eating disorder.
