Green Day's Voyeuristic Album

  • 01 March 2012

Green Day's new album will be ''voyeuristic''.

The 'Basket Case' hitmakers are currently working on the follow-up to 2009's '21st Century breakdown' and say the lyrics will be among their most intimate ever.

In a video teaser posted on YouTube, frontman Billy Jo Armstrong said: ''I think it's so personal and so voyeuristic. This is the first time we ever really sung about f**king.''

The group have promised fans won't be disappointed by the songs.

Bassist Mike Dirnt said: ''I'm just trying to make people feel more attached - as attached to this record as we feel.

''I know it's daunting. You sit there and you can hold the record and look at it as a piece of art, where you can go, 'Come on in, even further'. The songs are going to f**king blow [your] minds.''

The band have previously played new material at live shows,

showcasing a faster, more aggressive sound than the melodic pop of their last few albums. Working titles included 'Wow, That's Loud' and 'Make Out Party'.

The group - completed by drummer Tre Cool - had been demoing material as early as last May.

Billie Joe said at the time: ''O.K. here's the scoop. Green Day has been jamming new songs everyday. There's a ton of new songs. The direction is fresh and high energy. Feels great.''
