Smash Crashes

It's never good when ratings for a serialized drama drop weekly, and that's what is happening in the case of Smash , NBC's musical/drama on which the network had pinned many of its hopes for reemerging from limbo. The costly series averaged just 6.47 million viewers Monday night, down nearly 20 percent from last week, when it attracted 8.06 million viewers. On the other hand, the struggling network's other wannabe hit, The Voice , continued to perform strongly, however, beating the competition between 8 00 p.m. and 10 00 p.m., although its numbers, too, were down from last week. The Voice registered 14.6 million viewers at 8 00 p.m., beating CBS's How I Met Your Mother (9.8 million viewers) and 2 Broke Girls (11.3 million), ABC's The Bachelor (8.15 million), and Fox's House (7 million). The Voice 's ratings moved up to 16.9 million viewers at 9 00 p.m., coming in well ahead of CBS's Two and a Half Men (13.24 million viewers) and Mike & Molly (11.27 million), as well as ABC's The Bachelor (8 million), and Fox's Alcatraz (6 million).
