David Ginola Rushed To Hospital After Serious Skiing Accident

  • 08 February 2012

David Ginola, the former Premiership footballer turned actor and model, has been rushed to hospital after crashing into another skier at the resort of Portes du Mont-Blanc in France. Ginola is suffering from "multiple bruises and throat injuries", though Twitter speculation that he is in a coma remains unconfirmed, reports the UK's Daily Mirror.
Ginola, 45, was involved in a "severe collision" with a fellow skier, according to the local newspaper Le Dauphine Libere. The football star made his name as a flamboyant midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in the 1990s. His injuries have meant that he has been forced to cancel his appearance at this weekend's Winter Golf Trophy in the nearby resort of Megeve - the world's only snow golf competition. Following his successful footballing career, he became the face of L'Oreal's shampoo commercials, famously uttering the line "Because You're Worth It". He now lives in the "Millionaire's Playground' of St Tropez in the south of France with his former model wife Coraline and their children Andrea and Carla.
Support for Ginola has already begun flooding in on Twitter, with the Newcastle Utd fan page tweeting, "Get well soon to former Toon star David Ginola, in hospital with serious injuries after skiing accident".
