Paranormal Activity 4 Gets Spooky Halloween Release Date
Paranormal Activity 4 has been given a release date by its distributor Paramount and, handily enough for a film in the horror genre, it'll be just before Halloween, the film coming out on October 19th 2012. Last year's third instalment of the film came out just before Halloween as well, something that contributed to the film's huge success after it took a total of over $200 million worldwide at the Box Office against a budget for shooting of an estimated $5 million - that is a huge amount more than the first film's shoestring allowance of $15,000 back in 2009, it's still a massively cheap film to produce, making it a constant money spinner for Paramount.
Things might be a little different this year however - whereas last year, the franchise had a clear run at being the pre-eminent thriller film of the ghostly season, this year it'll come up against another, even more drawn-out horror franchise as the Hollywood Reporter points out that 'Halloween 3D' will also be out around the same time.
Previously, Paramount had revealed their full line-up of movies to be released this year, saying "In 2012, Paramount's release slate highlights include 'World War Z,' a zombie thriller starring Brad Pitt and directed by Marc Forster, 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation,' the next installment in the global franchise starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Channing Tatum, a new chapter in the 'Paranormal Activity' franchise, and 'The DICtator,' starring Sacha Baron Cohen and directed by Larry Charles, the team behind 'Borat.'
