Human Centipede 2 Banned For 'Posing Risk To Viewer'

The Human Centipede II, the sequel to the controversial low-budget horror movie, has been banned in the UK after the British Board of Film Classification rejected it outright, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The censor proposed that the 'Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) posed a real risk of harm to its potential viewers.

The original movie tells the story of a German doctor who kidnaps three tourists and joins them surgically, forming a 'human centipede'. Although DVD sales of the movie have almost totalled $2 million, the follow-up has been deemed "too sexually violent and potentially obscene" to be released in the UK. The British censor said it "rejected the sexually violent, and potentially obscene" movie, which means it cannot be legally supplied anywhere in the UK. The BBFC took issue with the central theme of TOM SIX's movie, criticising its "total degradation, humiliation, mutilation, torture and murder of its naked victim", adding that the film "poses a real, as opposed to a fanciful, risk that harm is likely to be caused to potential viewers". Cuts were not considered a viable option, as "unacceptable content" runs throughout the work from beginning to end. The ban represents the first in the UK since 2009's crime-horror movie 'Grotesque' was deemed unacceptable for audiences.
