Gary Oldman Confirms Tinker Tailor Follow-up

  • 29 November 2011

Gary Oldman will "revisit" his role as George Smiley in a 'Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy' sequel.

The British actor - who was honoured at the Gotham Independent Film Awards with a special tribute prize last night (28.11.11) - has confirmed "whispers" have begun about a follow-up to the critically acclaimed movie, which starred Colin Firth and Tom Hardy.

He told ComingSoon.net: "I think they're whispering now that they might do 'Smiley's People', not so much as a sequel, because there's a book in the middle actually, but we've set up the world and we'll revisit."

Meanwhile, Charlize Theron also picked up an honorary tribute prize at the award at the Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

The Oscar-winning actress wore a white Gucci dress and almost slipped on the red carpet while making her way to collect her award.

Among the stars to attend the event - which is now in its 21st year - were Tilda Swinton and Elizabeth Olsen.
