Mc Hammer Launching Own Search Engine 'Wiredoo'

Mc Hammer, the American rapper best known for his hit record 'U Can't Touch This', was the unlikely guest at the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco this week. A popular conference for technology entrepreneurs, the 49-year-old took to the stage to announce a new search engine, called 'WireDoo', reports the New York Times.
The rapper explained how the service could add relationship information to search results. For example, if someone searched for laptop computers, they would also see details of pricing, insurance quotes, reviews etc. The entertainer said WireDoo is not trying to compete with Google, but hopes to offer a "deeper type of search" that shows relationships to specific queries. Mr Hammer, real name Stanley Kirk Burrell, explained he had begun investing in technology start-ups after seeing the business potential of data driven companies, adding, "No one is playing for singles anymore". The rapper is the latest celebrity to have joined the technology start-up scene in recent years - Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher is involved in Foursquare, Flipboard, Chegg and the online travel company Hipmunk. He plays the internet billionaire Walden Schmidt on sitcom Two and a Half Men.
Burrell faced financial difficulties through the 1990's and eventually filed for bankruptcy in April 1996 at a California court. During an appearance on the VH1 series Behind the Music, Hammer admitted using up most of his $20 million fortune.
