The trailer for this film gives the impression that the characters will be pitted against a killer in the woods but in fact the greatest danger comes from within as one by one they contract a killer virus and turn on each other.

Full of gore, Cabin Fever is a welcome and refreshing addition to the horror film genre thanks mainly to its directors’, Eli Roth, love of ‘classic’ shock horror movies of the 70’s and 80’s. Letting a horror film fan loose with a camera and a bucket of blood could easily have gotten messy but Roth has managed to walk the line between horror and humour with consummate ease, the blood flows freely but doesn’t rain and the laughs he injects are genuine and perfectly timed. He uses the comedy to pull you in and at just the right moment shocks you, conversely when the tension is becoming over-bearing he uses it to
release the pressure.

The characters are just the right mix of pure jock, geek, snob and nice girls who are all dispatched with glee as the their holiday descends further and further into the red mist if sheer panic and self preservation.

Cabin Fever blends all of Roth’s influences into a refreshing horror smoothie that slips down your throat like a half pint of warm blood on a cold night in the cemetery as the dead dance once more for your personal entertainment. Horror fans should love this film and if they don’t I’ll be sending out an army of zombies with axes to change their minds.
