Paper Aeroplanes - We Are Ghosts EP Review

Paper Aeroplanes sounds like a fragile breakable soft band, which is comprised of two people Sarah Howells and Richard Llewellyn from the lovely city of Cardiff. Two members hardly suggest that there is going to be a lot of noise to their music, although the flip side of that coin was The White Stripes always managed to create an impressive racket.

The new mini-album 'We Are Ghosts' is the latest offering from this Welsh based duo and one thing that you can say about this record is that Sarah Howells truly does have a glorious voice, but everything else surrounding the music is lacklustre; Paper Aeroplanes have fallen foul by rightly finding a sound they're happy with but never breaking free from the confines of that one specific sound - well and truly in their comfort zone 'We Are Ghosts' lacks distinction between tracks.

For those who only enjoy modern folk music, there could well be some redeeming features on this album but as is, for the more open listener the band really need some more direction. Sadly for Paper Aeroplanes this "Mini Album" is not something special it is just simple background music, background music which you haven't put on at that.
