Badly Drawn Boy - You Were Right
Badly Drawn Boy
You Were Right sees BDB accepting his roles as a father, a lover and a pop star. The centrepiece of his forthcoming album he describes it tellingly as "the pinnacle of a certain way I write". Its combination of irreverence (Im turning Madonna down) and unexpected pathos (I remember doing nothing on the night John Lennon died) ensure it is the equal of anything hes penned.
"The underlying sentiment is that I dont want the pop persona to overshadow my real life.." Damon went on to say "...but the only way I can deal with it is to write a song about it, which seems to suggest that the lifestyle might be winning.
The single comes in two formats, a limited CD, which includes his live Glastonbury version of the single-a performance that quite literally saw grown men cry. Whilst both the CD, and 7 single include the otherwise unreleased Last Fruit.
Apart from the release of the single and its parent album, November sees the return of BDB (and his full band) to the live arena.
Starting at Glasgow Barrowlands on Saturday the 23rd and ending at the Brixton Academy on the 10th of December, the tour will be the fans first opportunity to see BDB perform songs from not only Have You Fed The Fish? but also has last (platinum) album About A Boy, the soundtrack to the film starring Hugh Grant.
