Turner Cody - First Light Single Review

Review for Turner Cody’s single First Light
This 27-year-old New York based musician might be better known for his work with the anti-folk outfit Herman Dune, but the title track from Turner Cody’s latest record gives a good indication as to why his solo work should not be ignored.
Featuring clarinet, piano, guitar and Cody’s charming vocals and lyrical brilliance ‘First Light’ is a rolling jazzy number that oozes quality. B-sides ‘If I Had The Drubs I’d Take ‘Em’ and ‘Bad With A Capital B’ continue in a similar fashion to the A-side, displaying more of those jazzy tendencies and once again hitting the spot. Turner Cody’s ability to capture the musical essence of the early 20th century with such startling precision, charisma and confidence really ought to be admired.
