Single Review

Hailing from New Orleans, this quartet formed in 2003 and released an EP the following year. Having played the Carling stage at the Leeds and Reading Festivals this year, they've now embarked on a lengthy tour of North America. A second full album is slated for release in 2008.

Opening with guitars that sound like 'The Bends'-era Radiohead, 'Typical' is an impressive rock track that only just fails to be truly thrilling. Decent riffs combine with unpredictable drumming to back up vocals that aren't far removed from Feeder's Grant Nicholas. Serving as a decent notice of intent, Mute Math could well be worth keeping tabs on.
