Since last November when The Thrills released their limited edition EP (Santa Cruz You’re Not That Far) they have been one of the most wanted bands on the UK circuit. This single alone, lead to the band appearing on the 12 date NME Awards tour.
So far we have heard 2 singles, the first one named above and the second a new single ‘One Horse Town’. The group’s main influences come from the classic 70’s American groups such as The Beach Boys, The Byrds etc. this does shine through on all The Thrills tracks and their new single is no exception. The boys all hailing from Dublin do have a very summery vibe to all their music, perhaps this is due to them spending 2 months over in LA recording their yet unnamed debut album. Everything element of this single, from the guitars & banjo to the multi layered backing vocals, works extremely well. All the instrumentation used by The Thrills has such a nice combination which balances their own influences (mainly west coast American) and a contemporary twist that makes the band very distinctive and an essential supplement to today’s music scene.
