Taking its title from a line in a song of John Lydon’s fronted project PiL – ‘Public Image Limited’ for those who don’t know – this compilation features the best Alan McGee’s label has to offer, and after listening to its first minute, you know you won’t be disappointed. Aside from band-of-the-moment The Others, here with Pete-Doherty-dedicated Stan Bowles, this rich collection of songs includes catchy Some Old Girl from up and coming band The Paddingtons, Contrary Mary from ones-to-watch rock combo Thee Unstrung, and the splendid White Boy Brown Girl from indie princess Lisa Moorish’s band Kill City, here in a very effective remix from Andrew Innes.
