What Made Milwaukee Famous - What Doesn't Kill Us Album Review

  • 11 September 2008

Album review of 'What Doesn't Kill Us' by What Made Milwaukee Famous released through Barsuk records.

What Made Milwaukee Famous’ debut album was released in 2006 and showcased a shed load of talent, their catchy tracks are full of hooks, it was so good it’s close to being a guilty pleasure.

2 years down the line the band offer us a second album, ‘What Doesn't Kill Us’ there’s no sign of feeling guilty about liking this album, it’s been smoothed out, the band have really grown, this is a indisputably great album. ‘The Right Place’ is 2 minutes of perfect rock, it echos sounds of Weezer, Fountains Of Wayne and Nada Surf and it is on a par with any of their best tracks.

What Doesn't Kill Us is an album that’s easy to fall for, it’s honest and kept to a simple formula There are moments of Coldplay/ Snow Patrol adult-friendliness but they’re modest and they don’t outweigh the grittier moments.

Michael Kincaid is a great vocalist and frontman and tops of What Made Milwaukee Famous’ winning formula. ‘What Doesn't Kill Us’ is a rare treat for a second album and is out album of the week.
