The M's - Real Close Ones Album Review
Read our album review for The M's new album Real Close Ones released through Polyvinyl Records.
In the past, The M's have sounded like bits of T-Rex and The Kinks more glammed up/classic 60's pop than a typical band from Chicago. For their new album 'Real Close Ones' the band add a slice of Psychedelia, like a sub-genre Flaming Lips style, it's Fuzz pop mixed with indie rock and a soul heart.
The M's are a band for fans of The New Pornographers, it fits in nicely with a lot of Chicago indie rock with soul, on paper it might seem to be a combination that shouldn't work but it does! The band have made a great jump from their last album 'Future Women' with it's power pop heart, now we see a band with dynamics and the production's made it subtlety magnificent. It does have weak points (the chorus to Bros In Arms will make you skip the song), but they don't take too much away from the overall album.
