Ammoncontact - New Birth - Album Review
New Birth Carlos Nino, the mastermind behind the Dwight Trible project and musical partner Fabian Ammon, have teamed together to create Ammoncontact. Being released on Ninja Tune records you can imagine the vibe that ‘New Birth’ has and it does fit into the Ninja Tune formula which is a good thing in my books.
The press release describe Ammoncontact as “heavy, funky, groove-based minimalism with a dash of cosmic Black Power politics, a love of jazz and enough bass to flatten planets’ which is a pretty good description to me. ‘Minimalism’ is the main word here as the simplicity of the sounds on ‘New Birth’ create a lot of space so none of the tracks over power you.
