Carrey's Chain Smoking Parents

[Jim Carrey](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/jim-carrey) is proud of the fact he has been able to give up cigarettes - because his parents were chain smokers.

The funnyman quit smoking years ago when he realised he was following his mum and dad's bad habits.

He reveals, "I don't come from a healthy background. My parents were lovely people but my mother smoked like a fiend, so I used to smoke like a fiend.

"I would lose sleep smoking cigarettes in the middle of the night. I'd go, 'It's 4am, I can get three more in before I have to get up.'

"My parents smoked until the walls were brown. My mother was bizarre. The smoking was her idea of treating her illness if she got sick.

"I used to smoke through illness too. I just quit. You can't mess around. Never again."
