Murphy Records Debut Album Secretly

Movie star [Brittany Murphy](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/brittany-murphy) recorded her first studio music sessions anonymously, because she wanted to know whether she really had the talent needed to become a pop star.

The [Just Married](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/just-married) actress booked a Los Angeles recording studio, backing singers, session musicians and an engineer under a pseudonym and then sent 'white label' copies of her hip-hop and jazz tunes to two nameless New York producers.

She says, "I wanted to test the waters first and so I recorded anonymously."

Murphy now hopes to release her debut album next year (05).

She joins a growing list of movie stars heading into recording studios for the first time - [Minnie Driver](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/minnie-driver), [Juliette Lewis](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/juliette-lewis), [Lindsay Lohan](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/lindsay-lohan) and [Toni Collette](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/toni-collette) are all set to release their first albums in the next 12 months.
