GARBAGE star [Shirley Manson](https://contactmusic.6lgx.com/shirley-manson) missed out on treating a sexually-transmitted disease early on because she refused to open a Valentine's Day card from the ex who passed it on.

The STUPID GIRL singer contracted a venereal disease in her late teens and her boyfriend was so ashamed he didn't have the courage to tell her.

The feisty Scot tells men's magazine BLENDER, "He slipped a note from the health centre, asking me to come in for a check-up, inside a Valentine's Day card. Really charming.

"I never saw the note. Eventually I discovered I had VD because the symptoms became so appalling."
