Spector Jury Hears Of 'Biased' Evidence

  • 16 August 2007

LATEST: The jury at the Phil Spector murder trial has heard how the defence's decision to place pathologist DR. MICHAEL BADEN on the stand represents a giant conflict of interest - because he's married to one of the music producer's attorneys. On Tuesday (14Aug07), Judge Larry Paul Fidler ruled the defence violated evidence regulations with Baden's surprise testimony about how Lana Clarkson lived for "several minutes" after she was shot. Instead of concentrating on this breaking of the rules, the prosecution instead spent Wednesday (15Aug07) trying to convince the jury that Baden's marriage to lawyer Linda Kenney-Baden makes him a biased witness. But Baden dismissed the prosecution's claims at the Los Angeles Superior Court hearing, insisting his testimony is impartial. Spector is accused of the fatal shooting of Clarkson at his Alhambra, California mansion in February 2003. He has pleaded not guilty and claims Clarkson committed suicide. The trial continues.
