Jackson Dreams Of Broadway
Janet Jackson is desperate to land a role in a Broadway play, because she has dreamed of working in theatre since she was a child.
The singer has put her music career on hold to concentrate on acting, appearing in two movies this year (10), Why Did I Get Married Too? and For Colored Girls.
And Jackson is now hoping to show off her skills on the New York stage.
She tells Larry King, "I would love to do that (a play). That's always - that's been another dream of mine, to do a Broadway play. An award winning Broadway play... And I'm eventually going to, because, like I said, that's always been a dream of mine since I was a kid. When I'm that attached, that passionate about something, I don't let go of it. It might be a minute before I get to it. But I don't let go of it."
The singer/actress understands the work schedule will be tough, but she's refusing to let the long hours and late nights put her off.
She adds, "A friend of mine was on Broadway and he told me that (it's tough). He said it's gruelling. He said it's a whole other discipline... My brain went 'Ding, ding, ding; what's that like?' I want to experience that, see what that's about. It just seems like it would be just so much fun to be able to perform on a daily basis. That's a whole other grind that I have never experienced, but someday I will."
